I see electric drill press ad’s and of course different sizes are available. There are 10″,12″16″ etc. what specifically are these measurements refering to ?
The size of a drill press is measured in terms of swing. Swing is twice the throat distance, which is the distance from the center of the chuck to the closest edge of the post. For example, a 16-inch drill press will have an 8-inch throat distance.
